Here is what he had to say:

"Dear Giallorossi fans, Roma is truly a special club. From the day I arrived up until the final of the Conference League and more, your support has always been amazing and it has always made me very proud.

"When I first put on this shirt I had one target: to win with this club and to make the fans happy - a target we achieved in Tirana! That triumph was the perfect way to end three years in Giallorossi.

"Now is the moment to say goodbye. I want to thank everyone who works at the club for the special bond we have built together during these past few years.

"A huge thank you to our coaching staff and, in particular, to Jose Mourinho for the confidence and attention he paid to me and for the great motivation he gave me as a player.

"I gave everything I had to Roma both on and off the pitch. It has been an amazing honour to play here and I will never forget the amazing moments we have shared together. This club and the Eternal City will always be in my heart. I love you all. Grazie Roma."
