The club would like to alert fans that forged 'Matchday Authenticated' serial codes - which the club applies to all jerseys prepared for first-team matches - have been found in some jerseys being sold online.
The club would like to invite anyone making purchases online to check the information included in the club’s authentication programme before going ahead with any purchases from private sellers.
Launched when Roma played Liverpool during the US Tour at the start of the 2014-15 season, the authentication programme makes it possible to identify jerseys genuinely worn by, or prepared for, first-team players. As a result, this helps us to prevent fraud and counterfeiting, especially on the online market.
All match jerseys worn during first-team matches, both friendly and competitive, are authenticated by the club using an internal label featuring the club logo, a unique serial number and the words “Matchday Authenticated”.
Any jerseys which do not feature this authentication symbol, or that lack a valid code linking them to a specific player (which can only be issued by AS Roma), should be considered fakes.
