Europa League Draw: What you need to know

On Friday afternoon Roma will find out their opponents in the group stage of this year's Europa League group stage.

The draw for the 2020-21 group stage of the competition takes place from 13:00 CEST in Nyon, Switzerland.

Fans can watch the draw live through uefa.com.

With the final round of play-off games set to take place on Thursday night, the list of teams for the group stage draw is still to be finalised.

For example AC Milan, the only Italian side still in the qualification rounds, will face Portuguese side Rio Ave for their place in the group stage.

The 48 teams that end up making up the group stage of the competition will be divided into 12 pots.

UEFA Pots

Based on the UEFA co-efficients (which are based on a five-year cycle of European performances), Roma will be seeded in Pot 1 for the group stage draw.

They cannot be drawn with another side from Pot 1.

As part of the draw, teams cannot face another club from the same domestic federation.

Kick-off times can be at either 18:55 or 21:00, allowing television companies from each nation to stagger matches involving teams they are focused on broadcasting.
