Stat Attack: Facts to know ahead of Atalanta visit

Ahead of Saturday's game at the Gewiss Stadium, we've picked out a few facts and figures worth knowing about this fixture...

The game against Atalanta gets underway at 20:45 local time.

Nothing to separate us in the form book

In the 58 previous meetings between Roma and Atalanta in Bergamo to date, both sides have managed to win 19 games apiece – with the other 20 ending in draws. There is a slight difference in the goals column; however – Atalanta scoring 75 in those games to Roma’s 73.

    February form even too

These two sides have faced each other 16 times in February before – winning five each.

    The last 10

Roma have beaten Atalanta just once in the last 10 meetings between the two sides: on the first day of the 2017-18 season. Other than that the Giallorossi have come away with five draws and four defeats.

Better on the road than in Rome

Atalanta have actually won only one of their last seven home games against Roma in Serie A – compared to three wins for Roma and three draws. Since the start of the 2012-13 season, only Juventus have done better in Bergamo (having not been beaten there).

    Kolarov’s first

It was against Atalanta that Aleksandar Kolarov scored his first goal for the club – and on his debut too. The Serbian full-back scored the only goal of the game during that season-opening triumph in Bergamo in 2017.

    The scorer’s list

Francesco Totti leads the list of all-time scorers against Atalanta with 10, followed by Vincenzo Montella on 7. Roberto Pruzzo and Giuseppe Giannini complete the top three on 5…

    But Dzeko is lurking…

Edin Dzeko has four career goals for the Giallorossi against Atalanta, including a brace on our last visit to Bergamo (a 3-3 draw). Kolarov, Pastore and Perotti have all scored one goal against them to date.

Gasperini in the opposition dugout again

Gian Piero Gasperini has faced Roma on no fewer than 22 occasions as a coach: winning six, drawing four and losing on 12 occasions.

    Atalanta flying forward

The Nerazzurri have scored 61 goals in 23 games to date – an unprecedented goalscoring streak that only the Juventus side of 1959-60 can match.

    Record run

With 42 points from their first 23 games, Atalanta have matched the record they set in 2016-17 for the most points at this stage in the league.
