Shirt auction raises €15,000 for charity

The special one-of-a-kind Roma shirts auctioned off over the New Year have raised €15,000 for charity.

Two special one-of-a-kind Roma shirts auctioned off over the festive period have raised €15,000 for charity.

The 2019-20 shirts, which were given a redesign by members of Roma’s men’s and women’s teams during a special Nike event in November, were put up for auction to support Roma Cares – the club’s charity arm.

All the money raised will go towards the ongoing ‘Calcio Insieme’ (‘Football Together’) initiative, a project that provides a safe space for children with cognitive disabilities to enjoy playing football, while simultaneously improving their social skills, self-confidence and physical fitness.

One bidder, who preferred to remain anonymous, donated €10,000 to win the re-imagined home shirt - which was created by Lorenzo Pellegrini, Annamaria Serturini and Agnese Bonfantini.

The auction for the third kit was won by Roma midfielder Javier Pastore, who paid €5,000 in order to claim the shirt created at the hands of Nicolo Zaniolo, Manuela Giugliano and Vanessa Bernauer.

The Calcio Insieme project, run in conjunction with the Italian Association for Integrated Football, was first started in 2016.

Now entering its fifth edition, the money raised will ensure its continued expansion and improvement.
