Pastore: We went in hard for every ball

Javier Pastore insists that Roma’s success against Napoli can be put down to a collective hunger and determination to win every challenge right from kick-off.

The Argentine, starting his third game in a week, was a contender for Man of the Match on Saturday, an award he picked up for his performance in midweek against Udinese.

You regained possession 11 times today – only once have you done better, in a match for Palermo back in 2010. Is that a sign of the excellent form you're in?

“Yes and it's important to feel good physically. I'm able to push myself harder than I could before. We're playing with real grit at the moment and that's great. We're very ambitious. We wanted these three points and we went in hard for every ball – that's how we won challenges, both myself and my team-mates. We have to keep it up now. This is the way forward.”

Roma moved the ball around really well today…

“We did – and what's more, against a great team like Napoli. We managed the game well. Our energy levels fell away a bit after missing the penalty but we raised our game again after the break and played really well. Now we need to recharge the batteries because we have more games coming up and we need to give the coach as many options as possible.”

Do you think you can play more than three games in a row?

“Yes. I've played three in a row now and I feel great. I'm recovering well and quickly after every game and that enables me to run and play the way I have been.”
