The game at Borussia-Park gets underway at 21:00 local time.
How important is the Europa League for you?
“If you play for Roma, you set out to win every game. It doesn't matter what the competition is, you try to win the next game. Tomorrow we'll be up against a great team and we have to focus on getting the three points.”
Could tomorrow be decisive for qualification? Are you still thinking about the penalty given to Gladbach in the first game?
“It's decisive for both teams but more for Borussia. It will be different to our first game. The refereeing is in the past now; we're just focused on tomorrow. We all need to fight together to win the match.”
Edin Dzeko played the second half against Napoli without a mask. How important is it to have a player like him on the pitch?
“He's a very important player for us. If he plays without his mask, it's a sign that he's ok and can perform at 100%. He's a key player for us.”
Players from various teams are getting injured because of the congested fixture list but fewer games would mean less revenue for clubs. Would you be prepared to take a salary cut to reduce the number of games?
“I'm open to anything, including losing money if it improves the quality. We all like watching football on TV but we must be able to enjoy it with the best players. At the moment there are too many games being played in all the leagues and that causes physical problems that prevents the best teams from having the best players available all the time. When we're not playing domestic football we're playing European competitions and when we're not playing European competitions we invent new international competitions like the Nations League.
"We have to rethink the calendar to avoid these problems, as we're seeing them in most of the European leagues and we're not able to have all the players 100% fit to offer the best football possible. So if I had to take a pay cut, why not.”
Do you think Alessandro Florenzi is more useful as a forward than as a defender? Is he ready to play tomorrow?
“He's ready to play tomorrow. I never talk about the conversations I have with my players but Florenzi can play in various positions. We'll see tomorrow if he plays or not.”
What's your view on rotation? Do you believe in it or do you think you shouldn't change a winning team?
“With so many games it's important to be able to rotate players but right now I can't change many. That's the way it is. If I had the option of rotating tomorrow, I would, but I can't at the moment.”
