Here's what the boss had to say:
Let's start with Matias Soulé. I saw you and Cesc Fabregas having a friendly chat. He recognised that Roma deserved to win this game and was full of praise for Soule and the way he played.
“Soule certainly had an excellent game but it's hard to pick out individual performances today. It was a great match and both teams deserve credit for that because otherwise you don't get that type of football. Both teams were trying to win it with their own style of play. We did well because Como have a lot of pace in attack and if you give them space, they can punish you. We were very alert and I'd say it was definitely our best performance at the Olimpico. We're happy because in front of our fans we didn't just win – we produced a top performance to go with it.”
There was a lot of attacking play. 27 goals this season, 13 by Como and 14 by Roma. And we should mention your ability to hold onto a result too. Nine times you've gone 1-0 up and nine times you've won. What's more, eight goals conceded in 15 matches makes you the best defence in the league.
“That's been the case since the start: we're very solid and even when we lose it's often only by a small margin. That's one of our strengths. We've been creating more chances in the last few weeks too. Tonight we were a lot more dangerous than Como and we could have won it by a bigger scoreline. We need to hone our finishing, our final ball, but we produced lots of openings and played good football.”
Would you take fourth place at the end of the season?
“I'd never 'take' anything... I'd be happy of course. It would be a great result. You can always do better or worse but at the moment there's something else that matters more.”
What's that?
“At the moment I want us to play like this. We have incredibly passionate fans and we can sense it: when you win and play well it feels different – there's an even better buzz, and it's very infectious. We needed a performance like this at home.”
Can Roma win the title?
“I'm inclined to say no. I'm not the best person to talk about certain things, but there are better-equipped teams. Having said that, I have this group of players who are giving their heart and soul. Players who are better technically might not have the same spirit, the same involvement, the same willingness. We're a good team at the moment and we're working to become even better but it won't be easy for anyone to play us. Hopefully we can continue with this spirit – that's the most important thing.”
