Totti joins Italian football's Hall of Fame

The Roma icon took to the stage at the Palazzo Vecchio to accept his place in the Italian Football Association (FIGC) Hall of Fame, which was founded in 2011 to recognise the biggest and best names in the history of Italian football.

"I think is a special, beautiful day for me," Totti said. "It means a lot, coming after being added to Roma's Hall of Fame.

"I want to think the FIGC for deciding to award me this distinction. Winning the World Cup in Berlin in 2006 cemented my reputation around the world, and I think that achievement also helped me earn this one here."

Totti was presented with his place in the Hall of Fame by current Italy coach Roberto Mancini.

Other Roma-related individuals to receive recognition on Monday included former player Amedeo Amadei and coach Gipo Viani.
