How to make a shirt for a Roma super fan

Michele got in contact with us in mid-May. He asked us to grant a wish. Not for himself, but for one of the most important people in his family.

This is his letter, this is his story.

“My grandfather Armando is about to turn 90. He’s been a Roma supporter all his life, in the truest and most genuine sense of the word. For decades, he never missed a Roma match. He went to the stadium whenever he could, often sitting in the Monte Mario stand, organising his work and daily routine around the fixture.

“He spent his life working as a farmer in Cerveteri, while also working at Rome’s wholesale markets, yet he always found a way to rush to the stadium to watch his team play. Roma has never been just football to him. It’s been a passion, a ritual, companionship and a fundamental part of his life. For his birthday, we grandchildren thought we'd give him a personalised shirt with “Armandino 90” on the back. Our dream would be to have it signed by a Roma player, or even to receive a small message from the team. We know full well how many requests you receive every day, but it would mean the world to him. It would truly be one of the most meaningful gifts of his life.”

The family were going to buy the shirt themselves. Michele wasn't asking for anything more than a few signatures. We decided to do a little more. We made the shirt and personalised it. Then we asked our players whether any of them would like to sign it. Every single one of them did. Even coach Gian Piero Gasperini wanted to add his signature.
