The match at the Estadio do Dragao is the second leg of the European knockout tie.
Roma hold a narrow 2-1 advantage from the first leg.
Roma in the last-16
Including both the European Cup and its replacement, the Champions League, Roma have played in the last-16 of the competition on seven different occasions. This tie with Porto is the eighth.
To date Roma have progressed four times and lost the tie on the other three occasions - including one win and one defeat apiece against Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid.
The four away precedents
For the fifth time Roma will play the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie away from home. On the previous four occasions, Roma progressed twice and went out twice - the most recent coming in the exit to Real Madrid in 2016.
Victories came against Lyon (2007) and Real Madrid (2008), with the other defeat coming at the hands of Shakhtar (2011).
Second leg record says boom or bust
In their six previous last-16 second leg matches, the Giallorossi have won four games and lost two - never drawing the game. A draw against Porto would send the Giallorossi through, of course....
Roma's four wins came against: Lyon, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Shakhtar Donetsk (last season). The two defeats came against Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Centenary game
If we ignored play-off ties, Wednesday's match at the Estadio do Dragao will be the club's 100th in Europe's greatest club competition. To date Roma's record: 36 wins, 25 draws, 38 defeats, with 130 goals scored and 146 conceded.
The overall record
Including the original European Cup, Roma have played 110 games in Europe's biggest club competition in their history: winning 41 games, losing 42.
Previous knockout meetings with Portuguese sides
Roma have faced Portuguese opposition in the last-16 of European competition twice in their history. In 1963, the Giallorossi beat Belenenses in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 3-1 on aggregate (2-1 at home, 1-0 away from home).
In 1981, meanwhile, Roma were knocked out of the Cup Winners' Cup by Porto (losing 2-0 away, drawing 0-0 at home).
Last victory in Portugal
27 October 2000. 19 years ago. It's a while since the Giallorossi last won an away European game against a Portuguese side. On that occasion Roma won 1-0, with Vincenzo Montella scoring the only goal for Fabio Capello's side against Boavista.
Since then the Giallorossi have faced Sporting Lisbon and Porto in the Champions League, drawing both games.
Put a date on it
On four occasions in their history have Roma played a European game on March 6; winning three and losing one.
Those games; Roma 3-0 Red Star Belgrade (1963 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup), Bayern Munich 2-0 Roma (1985 Cup Winners' Cup), Roma 2-0 Anderlecht (1991 UEFA Cup), Lyon 0-2 Roma (2007 Champions League).
De Rossi adds up the appearances
Roma captain Daniele De Rossi remains the all-time leading Roma appearance-maker in the Champions League, with 62 appearances (two of those in the play-off rounds). He sits ahead of: Totti (57 appearances), Panucci (38), Manolas (33), Mexes and Perrotta (31).
Sergio Conceicao against Roma
Sergio Conceiçao, the Porto coach, knows Italian football well - after playing in Serie A for Lazio, Parma and Inter Milan. During that period the Portuguese faced Roma nine times: losing four, drawing three and winning two.
