Kluivert finishes third in Golden Boy voting

Forward Justin Kluivert has finished third in the final voting for the 2018 Golden Boy award.

The prize, handed out by Italian newspaper Tuttosport to the best Under-21 player in European football, is judged by journalists from around the continent - who send in their preferred choices from a shortlist of players.

Ajax's Mathijs De Ligt - a former teammate of Kluivert's - was the winner of this year's award, following in the footsteps of 2017 winner Kylian Mbappe.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) was a distant second in the voting, with Kluivert rounding out the top three.

The Dutch winger, 19, won the online fan vote earlier in the month ('The Golden Boy Web') - and also came third in France Football's rival award, the Kopa Trophy.

On Sunday the Netherlands international scored his first goal in Serie A, helping Roma come from behind to beat Genoa 3-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.
