The Frenchman is AS Roma's eighth new arrival this summer following the capture of Igo Falque, Wojciech Szczesny, Edin Džeko, Mohamed Salah, Antonio Rüdiger, Norbert Gyömbér and Lucas Digne.
Vainqueur previously wore the No.21 shirt in France at Nantes and also in Belgium at Standard Liège. In Moscow, last season, he wore the No.6 shirt.
Several players have chosen the number 21 jersey at Roma since the introduction of squad numbers in Italy in 1995-96, including Abel Balbo (a Scudetto winner in 2001), Alberto Aquilani (in his debut campaign in 2002-03), Matteo Ferrari and Gaetano D'Agostino, who wore No.21 for three seasons, the first in 1999-00.
