Destro: I’m happy Roma have Dzeko

Mattia Destro may have broken a few Giallorossi hearts when he denied Roma all three points with an late, late equaliser for Bologna on Saturday but the Italian striker insists he holds no hard feelings towards his old club

Destro, who spent three years with Roma, scored from the spot with just two minutes of normal time remaining to make it 2-2 after Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko had earlier both scored penalties to give Rudi Garcia’s side the lead.

“I am happy because we put in a great performance and it would've been terrible to end the game without a single point," Destro told reporters after the game.

“We played very well against a great team. I hugged Edin Dzeko after the final whistle because he's a great champion and you must have respect. I'm happy Roma have a striker like him in their ranks.

“It's a very important point for Bologna and we gave our all."
