The three Giallorossi strikers all wrote themselves into Roma floklore by finding the net on multiple occassions during their first ever derby match against Lazio.
Ernesto Tomasi led the Roma front-line between 1933 to 1937, scoring 16 sgoals in 115 appearances. A significant chunk of his goal-haul came in what remains the widest margin of victory in the Rome Derby - 5-0 on November 1, 1933 at the Campo Testaccio.
Tomasi put in his best performance in a Giallorossi shirt on that day, scoring a hat-trick that – along with Fulvio Bernardini's double – handing a victory to Luigi Barbesino's side that has never been matched.
Fast-forward to 1959 and it was Pedro Manfredini's turn to light up Rome with a double in his first match against Lazio. Head coach Alfredo Foni included the Argentine in a formidable attack alongside Alcides Ghiggia, Alberto Orlando, Arne Selmosson and Dino Da Costa on October 18.
Manfredini went on to grab the spotlight by grabbing the first two in a 3-0 win. The third goal against the Biancocelesti came from Selmosson, scoring in his third consecutive derby after making the controversial switch across town from Lazio to Roma.
Vincenzo Montella became the last Giallorossi player to mark his first appearance in the Derby della Capitale with more than one goal when he notched a double in a 4-1 win on November 21, 1999.
Wearing the No. 9 shirt, Montella scored both of his goals in the first-half, with his strike partner Marco Devecchio also finding the net twice in the opening 45 as Roma went in at the break four goals to the good. Here's something for the history books as well, this game and the one with Tomasi in 1933 are the only times in history where two Romanisti have scored at least a double each in the same derby.
Can Dzeko have the same impact? We'll find out on Sunday.
