Ricci following in Florenzi's footsteps at Crotone

Ricci following in Florenzi's footsteps at Crotone

Federico Ricci, a Roma midfielder on loan at Crotone, hopes to emulate Alessandro Florenzi's journey who earned himself a return to the capital during his year in Calabria

The 21-year-old from Rome is enjoying a wonderful season in Serie B – just like Florenzi did in 2011-12 – and draws inspiration for his future from the current Giallorossi star.

"I hope to do what Florenzi did," Ricci admits. "My aim is to perform at the highest level and my dream is to play for Roma, as I am a Giallorossi fan.

"Alessandro has trodden this path before me and I want to follow in his footsteps."

The young midfielder has notched eight goals in 19 appearances for the Calabrian club and parallels can certainly be drawn with the Giallorossi No.24 who scored 11 times in 35 games in his one season with Crotone, putting in the same level of performances that Federico is showing.

Ricci has already made his Serie A debut for Roma – on 1 December 2013 when Rudi Garcia's side salvaged a last-minute 1-1 draw away against Atalanta. Indeed, Roma's equaliser came after the young talent made his entrance on the pitch. The Giallorossi academy graduate made picked up four appearances in the top flight that season, starting on one occasion at home against Genoa on 18 May 2014.
