In a high-scoring affair at Al Ain’s Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, the Egyptian side took the lead through John Antwi – before Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah struck back to wrestle the advantage to the Giallorossi.
However, Momen Zakaria found the back of the net shortly before half-time to restore parity – and then Walid Soliman scored on the break 10 minutes after half-time to give Al-Ahly the advantage going into the closing stages.
That was until substitute William Vainqueur struck in the final minutes – a goal that looked set to send the contest to penalties until Ahmed El Sheikh delivered a last-gasp decider.
