Daniele De Rossi was named in Italy's starting line-up as the Azzurri beat Belgium 2-0 in their opening game at Euro 2016 on Monday evening.

The midfielder put in a 78-minute shift in the Group E encounter, won thanks to goals by Emanuele Giaccherini and Graziano Pelle.

Fellow Roma man Radja Nainggolan started on the opposite side at the Stade des Lumieres and drew a decent save out of Gigi Buffon with a vicious first-half effort before making way for Dries Mertens in the 62nd minute.

The result sees Antonio Conte's side move to the top of Group E on three points, while the Republic of Ireland and Sweden have one each and Belgium remain on zero.
