The Portuguese side visit Roma for the second leg of the play-off tie with the score at 1-1, meaning Nuno Espirito Santo's side must score if they want to progress to the competition's group stages.
“Two teams this strong should already be in the Champions League, not fighting for a play-off," Pereira told reporters. "It’s hard to name a favourite, but we know Roma is a great team, full of quality players.
"We are only worried with what we can do, and we know there are players that will be important. That’s what matters to us.”
Pereira, who has vast experience of such high-pressure games with club and country, believes his side will go out with the right mentality.
“It will be a good match, an excellent show," he added. "We need to enjoy it, aware of how important it will be for the club, and us, the players.
"The message is the same as always: win. That’s how we look at every match, this will not be any different. It’s a good kind of pressure and I’m sure the team is motivated and that everyone will give a good response on the pitch.”
