Three to Watch: Austria's top threats aim for repeat performance

Roma face Austria Wien at the Ernst Happel Stadion on Thursday evening, with both sides looking to advance their Europa League aspirations

The reverse fixture at the Stadio Olimpico ended in a six-goal thriller, one that saw Austria Wien fighting back to a 3-3 draw against the Giallorossi.

With both clubs still level on points in the group, either side will hope to pick up the victory as they aim to finish in a strong position ahead of the knockout rounds.

Remembering the key events during the previous meeting, here are the three individuals that the Italian side will have to keep an eye on...

Raphael Holzhauser

You don’t see him getting on the scoresheet too regularly, however Holzhauser's sweet volley going past Wojciech Szczesny was certainly timed to perfection in the previous game.

Although he’s utilised as a defensive midfielder, the 23-year-old showed at the Olimpico what he can do on the ball and how many problems he can create for Roma. Holzhauser has six goals to his name in all competitions so far this season as he hopes to establish himself as a complete midfielder.

Luciano Spalletti will have seen the key role played by Holzhauser in the middle of the park and is expected to get his men to stay very close to him. Since the midfielder will be playing on home turf this time, the Roma midfielders will have to make sure he doesn’t enjoy too much time on the ball.

Dominik Prokop

Coming off the bench, Prokop only needed took four minutes to get his first goal for the team at the Olimpico, sparking the turnaround that led to a point for Fink's men.

It all started with a low cross from the right side of the pitch, which somehow came in front of the 19-year-old as he slotted it into the back of the net. The attacking midfielder spent ten years within the youth academy at Austria Wien, earning his promotion to the main squad in January 2016.

Prokop is expected to start on Thursday, rightly so as he looks to be in high confidence. Having the ability to play on both flanks as well as the role behind the forward, he is surely one of the players that will look to give the opposition a hard time at the Generali Arena.

Olarenwaju Kayode

He was arguably Austria Wien’s best player during the 3-3 draw, creating an impressive assist for Holzhauser’s goal. Not only that, he scored the equaliser six minutes from time to give the side a valuable point to take back home.

The Nigerian international has bagged ten goals and produced five assists so far into his 2016/17 campaign with the club, being recognised as Thorsten Fink’s main man in attack. Being known for his superb feet and impressive dribbling, the Roma defence will have to do everything to nullify him.

With Kostantinos Manolas missing the match and Federico Fazio’s return not confirmed yet, Kayode will have the opportunity to cause havoc once again as he faces an unfamiliar centre-back partnership.
