Kevin Strootman played for 85 minutes as the Netherlands beat Ivory Coast 5-0 in Rotterdam on Sunday evening.

The Giallorossi No. 6 lined up alongside Davy Propper as one of the two holding midfielders in the 4-2-3-1 formation selected by Fred Grim, who is standing in for Dick Advocaat until the new Netherlands manager has completed his commitments with Turkish club Fenerbahce.

The Netherlands stormed to victory at De Kuip courtesy of a Joel Veltman brace, an Arjen Robben penalty and goals from Davy Klaassen and Vincent Janssen. Strootman produced a good performance and was replaced on 85 minutes by Bart Ramselaar.

Strootman will be back in action at De Kuip on 9 June as the Netherlands take on Luxembourg in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Meanwhile, Roma players' international commitments continue on Monday evening as Mohamed Salah’s Egypt play Libya in a friendly at the Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo.
