Dzeko nominated for Ballon d'Or

Edin Dzeko has been nominated for the 2017 Ballon d'Or after his performances for club and country over the past year

The striker - the top goalscorer in both Serie A and the Europa League last season - is one of 30 players in the running for the prestigious individual award, as the list of nominees was unveiled on Monday.

The winner of the award will be announced at a later date, following the completion of the judging process.

Dzeko scored a total of 39 goals during the 2016-17 campaign, with 29 of them coming in Serie A - enough for him to win the coveted 'Capocannoniere' title.

He already has eight goals to his credit this season, seven of them coming in Serie A.

The striker last finished in the top 30 for the award back in 2009, after a similarly prolific goalscoring campaign for German side Wolfsburg as they won the Bundesliga.

Congratulations, Edin!
