Andrea Marcucci scored from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time as Lorenzo Valeau grabbed a second half goal for the Under-19s, as they moved onto six points at the halfway stage of the competition.
"It’s not just about the win, which is a valuable one that puts us in a good position in the table," De Rossi said afterwards. "I want to underline the manner in which we’ve been able to get the victory at such a tough ground and against such a good opponent."
He added: "This is the product of all of the hard work our youth academy does. We coach specific attributes in training every single day and that comes through when it counts. Technique always prevails over every other factor in football.
"We were up against a team that is not only physically strong but also well organised. They beat Madrid easily. We have a completely different team to the one we had last season. I think we might be a bit underrated, but we certainly know how to play. The individual technical quality of the players makes up for shortcomings in the physical department."
