The Giallorossi lost at home to AC Milan on Sunday, dropping out of the top four in Serie A as a result, just as the domestic campaign enters the final stretch.
And, while Totti acknowledges the squad are struggling at the moment, he remains confident the group will turn things around in due course.
“There is only one way to get out of this situation: we have to be united and push forward with the same aim, to go as far as we can in the Champions League and Serie A,” Totti said.
“Roma is a unique club, with a unique atmosphere, where everyone wants the best from all the players.
“Now it is up to the players to show what they are made of – only in this way can they work through a tough spell.”
Totti also gave his support to coach Eusebio Di Francesco.
“As a club we believe strongly in him,” Totti said. “Every season has its highs and lows and always has: at Roma especially this issue can arise when you least expect it.
“Whenever you lose it is always a delicate moment, but I don’t think he is worried. we are all behind him and giving everything as we try to find our form again. He is a key person for us.”
The 41-year-old, speaking at his unveiling as the latest member of Laureus Sport’s World Academy, was also asked about Roma’s Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Giallorossi lost the first leg in Kharkiv 2-1, with the second leg in Rome scheduled for March 13.
“All of us were surprised at what happened in the second half [in Kharkiv],” Totti added. “However, in the end the result means we are still in the tie.
"We have what it takes to turn things around, even if we have to win the game – which will not be straightforward."'
