Villar: Pedro is an example for us all

Gonzalo Villar could be in line to make his first start of the season on Thursday evening, when Roma face Young Boys in the first game of this season's Europa League group stage.

Here's what the Spaniard had to say at his pre-match press conference...

What is the main difference between Spanish football and Italian football?

“It’s a different game, from Spain to Italy. I was playing in the second division in Spain and the main difference here is that the tempo is a lot higher. But I feel good, I try to train as hard as possible and I feel even more comfortable than I did last season.”

Did you expect Pedro to be so sharp this season?

“We are all seeing the level Pedro is playing at right now. For me especially, because I’m Spanish like him, it’s great for me that he decided to come to Roma. He’s already scored twice in five games so far.

“And it’s not just about the goals; he never stops, he keeps running, he seems like he’s 22 like I am. That’s why he’s playing every game and that’s a great thing for us.

“My friend Carles Perez has a great example around him, to get advice and help him keep improving.”
