Soule and Cristante react to win over Fiorentina

Matias Soule and Bryan Cristante spoke to DAZN following Roma’s 2-1 win at Roma on Matchday 6 of Serie A.

Here’s what the two players had to say:

Soule

Mati, this was a hard-fought and scrappy win. How much does it mean?

“Obviously the win is very important, both on a personal level, after what happened during the week, and for the team as well. It was important for us to bounce back. Now we need to focus straight away on the next matches, which will be key. We’ve got two weeks to improve on a few things and keep it up.”

Where can this Roma side go in terms of growth? You’re top of the table right now.

“Of course, we have to try to win every match. As Bryan said, this was a very tough game away from home, but we need to take it step by step, match by match and keep improving where we have to.”

Cristante

An important win, Bryan, even though there were a few errors in possession and when playing out from the back in the second half. How did it feel?

“We won, we did well. We went behind early on, so it wasn’t easy, especially away from home, but we did a great job in terms of reacting straight away and turning the game around.”

Before the match, Gian Piero Gasperini told us that if Roma get three corners, it’s better than a penalty because you’re bound to score. You found the net today, as captain, so how does it feel to be back on the scoresheet?

“It feel really good. It’s important too, because now we’re right up there. There’s the international break now, but we’re top of the table, so this win was crucial. We’ve got these two weeks ahead, and then we’ll have to come back strong.”

If we had to find a small flaw in this Roma team, it might be that you don’t finish games off earlier – would you agree?

“For sure, if we could end matches with one more goal, it would be better, but we’re still in the process of growing and improving. We know that’s an area where we need to take another step forward. This team has a lot of potential – in midfield and in every position – and we just need to keep improving. We’re on the right track.”
