Pisilli: "It's an emotion that is really hard to explain"

Niccolò Pisilli spoke to the media after scoring his first Roma goal in the Giallorossi's 3-0 win over FC Sheriff on Thursday night.

Here's what the midfielder had to say...

Tell us about these emotions and this goal?

"It's an emotion that is really hard to explain. It's something I've dreamt of my entire life. I've been a Roma fan since I was a child. To score in this stadium, with this shirt, is something I couldn't imagine."

And the Curva Sud chanting your name after scoring?

"As I said, it's crazy. Something I couldn't even imagine. Roma fans are special, everyone knows that."

You already made your debut last year against Inter. You came on today and showed great personality. You nearly came close to scoring when El Shaarawy played you through.

"I've always try to play the game I know. If you go onto the pitch with fear, it's the worst thing that can happen.

“I tried to be as calm as possible. Even the coach told me to be calm. I hope I played well.”

Mourinho handed 13 youngsters their debuts since he's been at Roma. He told you to be calm before playing, but what else does he tell you?

"Working with him is incredible. You learn a lot from him. He is a coach who needs no introduction. It's an honour to work with him.”

You also went through the national youth team ranks. Has that helped you?

"Playing with the Azzurri shirt is a privilege. I'm delighted when they call me and when I have the chance to play for them".

After the goal, who did you think of? Who was the first person who came to mind your mind?

"It was a mix of emotions. I don't really know what went through my head at that moment. All the people who have accompanied me on this journey.

“No one in particular. Just a strong mix of emotions.”

How old were you when you joined Roma?

"I joined Roma at the age of nine, when I was in fourth grade. I've been at Roma for 10 years. It's a second family for me.

“I grew up inside Trigoria. The people there are like a part of my family. Playing for Roma means a lot."

Who do you take inspiration from as a footballer?

"I don't have one player in particular that inspires me. I really like midfielders who break the defensive line. I don't have a name.

“I try to watch as many as I can, even from my own team. I try to learn as much as I can from them.”
