Roma vs Verona - All you need to know!

Exactly one year on from their contest at the Olimpico last season, Roma and Hellas Verona face off once again in the Italian capital on 19 February.

This time around, in 2023, the teams come into the clash with different league standings. Last season Roma found themselves on 40 points after 25 games as they prepared to face Verona, who were in ninth position with 36 points. Roma are now one point better off after 23 matches, while Verona are some 19 points worse off.

The Giallorossi go into Sunday's contest looking to keep up their push for a Champions League spot. The visitors, meanwhile, will be aiming to move out of the relegation zone.

Here's what you need to know about the game, which will have New Balance as match sponsor.

    A 66th top-flight meeting

Verona and Roma have met 65 times in the top flight. The Giallorossi have won 33 of these encounters, while the Gialloblu emerged victorious in 12 (20 ended in a draw).

    Last season's comeback

The most recent contest between Roma and Verona at the Stadio Olimpico was last season. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with the Giallorossi coming back from two goals down.

The game was the last time Roma picked up points at home in Serie A after trailing by two goals.

    Unbeaten at home against Hellas

Roma are unbeaten in 25 home games against Verona in Serie A (19 wins, 6 draws).

Of the teams currently competing in Italy's top division, only against Atalanta have the Giallorossi managed a longer run of consecutive home games without defeat (30, between December 1950 and September 1993).

    Santarini and Pruzzo the recordholders

Sergio Santarini and Roberto Pruzzo are, respectively, the Roma players with most appearances and goals against Verona.

Our iconic former captain played 20 games against the Gialloblu, while the prolific Pruzzo found the net six times against them.

Liedholm in the dugout and Di Bartolomei's final game

Nils Liedholm is by far the Roma coach with the most matches against Hellas Verona. He led the team in 16 contests, winning nine, drawing six and losing just one.

Those matches include a two-legged clash in the 1983/84 Coppa Italia final. Roma won after drawing 1-1 in the first leg and winning 1-0 in the return, which was Agostino Di Bartolomei's last game in yellow and red.

    Abraham seeking 50th goal

Tammy Abraham's next goal will be his 50th in the top five European leagues. Of his current tally, 23 have been scored for Roma in in Serie A.
