Factfile: Get to know Sophie Roman Haug!

The forward becomes the latest Norwegian player to join the Giallorosse...

Roman by name, now Roma by nature - Sophie Roman Haug this week became the fourth Norwegian player to become a member of Roma Women.

The 22-year-old striker is one of the most exciting prospects in Norwegian football - here's a bit more about what she will bring to Alessandro Spugna's side...

    The Career So Far

Haug came through the junior setup at Kløfta, before joining traditional powerhouse of Norwegian football LSK Kvinner in 2015. A member of the first team there almost from the off, Haug has gone on to win the league in every season since 2015 - along with the Norwegian Cup on four occasions.

In both 2017 and 2018 she finished second top goalscorer in the league, on both occasions behind Guro Reiten. With LSK she also began to play regularly in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

    For the National Team

She has played for every national team youth age group from Under-15 to Under-23, although she is still awaiting her first senior call-up.

She played in the Under-19 European Championships in Switzerland in 2018, scoring four goals in three appearances as Norway made it to the semi-finals.

    Silverware

    Norwegian league: LSK Kvinner in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Norwegian Cup: LSK Kvinner in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019.

    Playing Style

A classic No. 9, Haug uses her size and strength to protect and hold up the ball well and to help the rest of her team push up the field. She is also able to attack the spaces in behind defences and is always an aerial threat inside the penalty box.

    The Statistics

Haug's statistical record so far to date are certainly impressive: including 61 goals in 133 games for LSK.

In the most recent Toppserien campaign she scored nine goals in 15 toal appearances.

She has also made 12 career appearances in the Champions League in her career so far.

    Additional Details

Haug will find a familiar face in Rome: she played alongside Emilie Haavi at LSK.

Haug will wear No. 22 for the Giallorosse, following in the footsteps of former winger Agnese Bonfantini.
