Linari stepped up in the dying moments of a remarkable match to clinch all three points - and a record sixth straight league win for the Giallorosse - and keep the side's Champions League qualification hopes firmly on track.
With coach Alessandro Spugna and a number of players absent due to Covid, and others beset by injury, an unfamiliar starting line-up found themselves 1-0 down at half-time Stadio Tre Fontane.
Debutant Mina Bergersen then made herself an unlikely hero late in the second half, as the teenager scored her first senior goal from Emilie Haavi's cutback to set up a remarkable final few minutes.
The game would then get the dramatic finish it deserved, as Linari converted from 12 yards to secure a win that will live long in the memory.
"There was a bit of pressure on the penalty, but ultimately the desire to win the game and stay in second spot overcame all that," Linari said afterwards.
"I think in the second half you saw the desire and the determination we had to come back and get the three points. I think this was a real statement of intent for us. Now we have to focus on the upcoming games."
