Roma 4-0 Zorya Luhansk: Goals flow as Giallorossi romp through

Roma are into the knockout phase of the Europa Conference League after an emphatic 4-0 victory over Zorya Luhansk on Thursday evening.

Tammy Abraham scored twice after both Carles Perez and Nicolo Zaniolo had got on the scoresheet to give the Giallorossi a comfortable victory - with top spot in the group still to play for on the final matchday.

Chris Smalling started a first game back after injury as Zaniolo began in a central attacking role, and Jose Mourinho was rewarded with a clean sheet and impressive attacking display against admittedly limited opposition.

There was also time for a debut late on, as 17-year-old Filippo Missori made his first appearance for his boyhood club.

The home side started as the meant to go on - and could have been 2-0 up inside the first couple of minutes, as both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Abraham went close. In the end it was Perez who broke the deadlock, however, as he capitalised on Stephan El Shaarawy's perfectly measured ball to tap home from close range.

Zaniolo then rifled one into the back of the net in similar circumstances soon after to send his side into the break in a comfortable position; although it could have been even more so had Jordan Veretout not seen his penalty saved.

Abraham then got in the act immediately after the restart, tapping home after more fine individual play down the flank from Zaniolo.

The England international could have certainly added to his tally further: in the end a bicycle kick into the bottom corner after Mkhitaryan's shot had been deflected was his only further reward.

Nevertheless his goals ensured the final result was more than secure, with Mourinho's side still in a position to finish top of the group after their final game against CSKA Sofia.
