Primavera beat Sassuolo to start season in style

Fabio Melillo's much-changed squad kicked off with a 2-0 home win, thanks to goals from Mina Bergersen and Safia Tall.

"It was a tough game, Sassuolo were very well-prepared for this one," said Melillo afterwards.

"We are starting a new cycle and we still have a lot of room to mature and to improve, but the girls showed what they are capable of today.

"We didn't give them much and we created a lot of chances ourselves. This performance augurs well for the rest of the season."

Having won the national title in both 2020 and 2021, there is plenty of expectation on the Under-19s going into the new campaign.
