Stadio Olimpico, Roma, 26 June 1984.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg up north, Hellas Verona and Roma reconvened at the Stadio Olimpico to decide the final of the Coppa Italia.
A goalless draw could have been enough for the Giallorossi - but of course, that was never really coach Nils Liedholm's style. They played to win, every time, and that's what they did on this night as well.
Ferroni's own goal decided the game early in the first half, as Roma won the Coppa Italia for the fifth time - and the time during the presidency of Dino Viola.
If the game was not necessarily overly memorable, then the many events that surrounded it were. For starters, it proved to be the last game for the club for Agostino Di Bartolomei - the club captain who made 310 appearances for the team.
Ago bowed out lifting the trophy to the sky in front of the fans at the Olimpico.
The coach, Liedholm, also departed - albeit to return just three years later. For both departures, however, it felt like a defining night in the club's history.
