    First interview: Benedetta Glionna

Here's what the young forward had to say after making her move to Roma Women official!

Benedetta Glionna has become Roma Women's first signing of the summer.

The forward joins the Giallorosse from Juventus, having spent the last two seasons on loan at Verona and Empoli respectively.

Here's what the Naples-born player had to say after making her move official!

Welcome to Roma, Benedetta! What convinced you this was the right choice for you?

"I choose Roma because I think it is a great club, with a great squad that has been improving year by year. And so that’s why I chose this opportunity."

After gaining experience on loan over the last few seasons, does this opportunity come at the right time for you?

"I’ve gained a lot of experience over recent years. After two years at Juventus I went on loan at Verona and then Empoli, where I had the chance to play regularly. Right now I am very pleased to have this great opportunity and I am truly delighted to be here."

You've played Roma a number of times in your career - what have your impressions been of the team?

"As an opponent, I always thought Roma were a great side. They have always played good football and as an opponent it was always difficult to play against them."

Do you know that you are actually the first female player to score at Stadio Tre Fontane in an official game? When Juventus won on the second day of the season back in 2018...

"I remember that for the first game of that season I think I had an injury, and so I didn’t play. So to then play in that game and to score the first goal [at Tre Fontane] was something really satisfying and enjoyable for me, and the team. So to now be here, playing for this team, it is a little bit different – but amazing too."

What do you think you can offer the team this season?

"My aims for this season are to keep improving with every training session, I want to continue to get better. For the team, meanwhile, I hope that we are able to do well and keep improving as a group and then let’s see. I won’t say more than that!"
