Cristante: Clearly this is a bad moment for us

Here is what Bryan Cristante told Roma TV following Tuesday night’s Coppa Italia exit against Spezia.

“We started badly, we conceded twice – but then we recovered and got back level,” Cristante said.

“We could have seen the game off but we didn’t manage it. And then after that it could go wrong and did.”

Was there a lack of defensive security?

“I don’t think so, above all we made mistakes in a few situations in both defence and attack.”

What sort of moment is this for Roma?

“It’s not a good one. We’ve lost the derby, we are out of the Coppa Italia. On Saturday we will face Spezia again, so we have to win that and get back up and running.”

With other central defenders on the bench, did you expect to play in that position again tonight?

“The coach made the decision, I try to do the best I can. The boss made the decision and I played. We have to make sure we win on Saturday.”

How do you explain Gianluca Mancini’s foul that led to his red card?

“It wasn’t a bad foul. It was a challenge in the middle of the pitch, he didn’t need to get a booking for that. It wasn’t a bad mistake from Gianluca.”
