March 8: Roma launch #ChooseToPlay campaign

Football is a game for girls, football is a game for all: #ChooseToPlay is the message the club has chosen to celebrate International Women’s Day.

On an iconic date like March 8, the Giallorossi have decided to celebrate the achievements of women with the aim of also reminding us all that, together, we can all work together to create a more inclusive world.

#ChooseToPlay is the message delivered by members of the club’s women’s team who, alongside coach Betty Bavagnoli, wanted to make it clear that we all have a role to play in the battle against prejudice and inequality of any form.

The hashtag chosen follows that of International Women’s Day 2021, #ChooseToChallenge: because true change only emerges from challenging conventions.

The commitment of the club is underlined by the decision to change the colours on its official social media profiles for IWD on March 8: the crest will become yellow while the background will be purple – the colour of justice and dignity.

Beyond that, the club will also organise a series of webinars on gender equality among a number of schools around the capital.

It takes participation to make change: on March 8, all women who enter one of the AS Roma Stores in the city will receive a special bracelet featuring the colours of the campaign.

Furthermore, on the club’s competitions portal, Roma fans can upload their photo – adding a special frame with the #ChooseToPlay branding that they can upload to their social media profiles, becoming ambassadors for the initiative themselves.

On Monday the club will also continue its ongoing campaign against domestic violence against women. At the Colosseum a new initiative tied to the ‘Amami e basta’ (‘Just Love Me’) campaign will be launched.

The campaign, overseen by Roma Cares in collaboration with Roma Capitale, is supported by ManpowerGroup and the Human Age Institute Foundation.
