Roksa: “I’m so proud to be the esports captain”

Marko ‘Roksa’ Roksic looked back on the very beginning of his gaming career, his experience at Roma so far and provided some insights into the future of our esports squad in a recent interview...

“My dream when I was a kid was to become a professional footballer,” Roksa told Il Romanista. “I started to train after my sixth birthday, and my coaches said I was a very promising goalkeeper! But to be honest, I didn’t like training so much, so I started to focus more on my other passion: video games.”

“I’ve been playing PES for a long time now – PES 6 was one of the best games I’ve ever played. But it all started on PES 17, when I played in my first pro tournament in Belgrade on PS4. I originally didn’t want to go, but my brother kept begging me to attend. It was there that I met Kepa, my teammate with Roma now.”

The two current teammates played their first match against each other, with Roksa coming out on top after entering the match as the underdog. “He never lost in almost 10 years of offline PES tournaments in Serbia until that point,” Roksa revealed. “And after that, I became better every day and now I’m here: a professional PES player.”

He then touched on why he chose to join Roma, saying: “Roma is the biggest club in Italy and they collaborate with a great team like Mkers. From the start, they really showed me what Roma is all about and they prove that we are truly part of the club, which is amazing.”

Roksa then explained what it meant to him to be the captain of Roma Esports: “It’s a really nice feeling, and a massive honour to be a captain at this amazing club for this great team. It’s a big obligation, but I am ready for that.”

Marko also had praise for his Serbian teammates, saying: “They are all very good guys who deserve to be at Roma 100%. I’ve known Kepa for four years and we’ve won almost everything there is to win in Serbia and the surrounding region. We are both great champions but also big rivals, too – we never like to lose and we are never happy! Aca is one of the best players right now in Serbia, and I’m sure he will be very good for us going forward.”

He hinted at a future in coaching for his Italian teammate, Venom: “He’s a very good player too, but he is old! I told him to retire so he could become our coach, and his response was ‘After we win the title,’ so I promised him this!”

Roksa, the best defender so far in this eFootball.Pro season, provided a preview of Roma’s next match against Galatasaray: “They are in good form, but we are Roma. We may be new in the competition, but I am sure that we are one of the best teams. For the first time, we are viewed as favourites in a round, so I expect nothing less than six points from this match!”
