Zaniolo upbeat after surgery

The Italy international, 21, underwent a procedure in Innsbruck, Austria to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee - after suffering the injury while on national team duty earlier in the week.

The operation was a success and, while Zaniolo will remain in Austria for the next few days in order to be monitored, the player already had his eyes on his recovery.

"The countdown to the comeback begins!" Zaniolo wrote.

"Surgery successfully completed. A big hug to all those who, even with a little message, wrote to me to ask me how I was doing - these have been tough days but, thanks to all of you, in the end that is all.

"From now I'm focused on the comeback to get back to doing what I love - playing in the Roma shirt and celebrating along with all of you. Forza Roma always... I am completely in love with this club."
