The club, widely considered one of the leaders in social media content and digital innovation, will use the app to reach and engage with a new audience online.
TikTok, which first launched in China in 2016 under the name of Douyin, is now available in 150 countries and 75 languages on both iOS and Android.
“We are excited to have AS Roma among the first football teams to join Tiktok!” said Normanno Pisani, Partnership Manager at TikTok.
“We are looking forward to the great content Roma have in store for us and their millions of fans across the world.”
The new Roma account, which published its first post on the platform on Monday, will share short videos from life in and around the club - on and off the pitch - each with its own mini soundtrack.
“We’ve been working with TikTok to launch an AS Roma presence on the app for some time, so we’re delighted to finally make the account official today,” said Paul Rogers, Head of Strategy at AS Roma.
“We’re always looking for creative ways to connect with our fans and experiment with new content. With TikTok, we see a lot of potential to reach a new and younger audience.”
The TikTok launch is the 32nd official social media account created by AS Roma, who now communicate in 13 different languages across 13 different platforms.
