School for young trainees unveiled at Trigoria

The new private school, which has been authorised by the Italian Ministry of Education, is reserved exclusively for young AS Roma players.

The new private school, which has been authorised by the Italian Ministry of Education, is reserved exclusively for young AS Roma players.

The school – a scientific high school ('liceo scientifico') with a focus on sports – has five classes, one for each year from first to fifth. There are currently 80 students enrolled.

The school is housed in a building that has been completely renovated and made suitable for school activities, with a gym also located inside the school.

The new school section opens after five years of collaborative preparation with the Giovanni Paolo II International School, which is based in Ostia.

It means that the club's young players will now have access to a school inside the Trigoria training ground, making it the only training facility in Serie A with its own restaurant, accommodation, pitches, gyms and school.

“Ever since he arrived, club president [Jim] Pallotta has been passionate about the need to support the development of our young footballers away from the pitch and enable them to complete their schooling,” said club vice president Mauro Baldissoni.

“Having spent the last five years working on the initiative, we are today proud to inaugurate a proper school – authorised by the Ministry of Education – at our training ground, in the same year we see our first students receiving their diplomas.

“We are certain that the youngsters appreciate this opportunity and will work as hard as they can to achieve success in their studies.”
