Gallery: Club presents new state-of-the-art offices in the city

AS Roma officially presented their new business offices to the world at a ceremony in the EUR district of the city on Friday afternoon.

The event attracted some of the biggest names in both the city and the country - among them Italy's Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, the city's mayor, Virginia Raggi, and the Archbishop Rino Fisichella.

They were joined by senior AS Roma officials - including club vice-president Mauro Baldissoni, chief executive Guido Fienga, club director Francesco Totti and sporting director Monchi.

Roma’s home for sporting matters will remain at Trigoria, at the sports centre that the club has extensively renovated to bring to the cutting edge in recent years.

But it was decided that Trigoria – well outside the city centre – was not the best place for those who work on the business side of the club to be based.

“We felt it was necessary to find a new office, one that allowed the club to be embedded in the city and strengthen the bonds with the community that it represents,” said club vice-president Mauro Baldissoni.

“We have found that at a location which is in the heart of one of the business centres of the city, while refurbishing and reinvigorating an old building. As a result the club has further enhanced its place within the city, in line with all the values that distinguish it.”

During the club’s 92-year history, Roma has held offices at a number of locations around the city.

A little over 30 years ago the club left the last of those, in Via del Circo Massimo, to bring all club activities to the Trigoria base, the demands of modern football means a new, specialist office space has been opened once more.

EUR remains a historic district for the club, with the famous Stadio Tre Fontane a short distance from the new office.

The playing facility, with an illustrious place in the club’s history, has recently been restored to its former glories – hosting matches for the Women’s and Primavera sides along with some first-team training sessions.

"Our project is not just a sporting one," Fienga added.

"We are talking about Roma, a club with a new general headquarters - which will allow us to continue to grow from a commercial and entrepreneurial perspective too."

The mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, was among a number of speakers.

"This is a very important evening, because it represents another big step forward," she said. "Roma is more than a football team, it's an ambitious project.

"We realise that often bureaucracy and red tape can slow down entrepreneurs, and we are working hard to speed up the administrative process and help them progress."
