Roma 2-2 Inter Milan: Match report, reaction and key statistics

Roma came from behind twice to take a 2-2 draw from a thrilling clash against Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

Despite missing a number of key players on the night, Eusebio Di Francesco's side dominated play for large parts of the contest - yet found themselves twice having to come from behind.

First of all Cengiz Under produced a breathtaking goal early in the second half to cancel out Keita Balde's opener, before Aleksandar Kolarov converted coolly from the spot to erase Mauro Icardi's header.

In a thrilling match between two heavyweight sides, controversy quickly took over - as Nicolo Zaniolo was somehow denied what appeared to be a clear penalty (which the referee did not review with VAR), just moments before Inter went up the other end and took the lead.

Roma took a while to bounce back from that blow but finally did so early in the second half, as Cengiz Under took a touch before ripping a trademark left-footed strike inside the stranded Samir Handanovic's near post.

At that point the Giallorossi were very much in the ascendancy - only for Icardi to rise highest at a corner and give Inter the lead once again.

But Roma never gave up, and finally were awarded a penalty (this time with VAR) after Marcelo Brozovic stuck an arm out in the penalty box.

Kolarov stepped up and, with little hesitation, blasted home to ensure Di Francesco's side would at least not be defeated.
