Roma have now conceded two own goals this season – both against Sampdoria. After Kostas Manolas put through his own net at the Marassi, Miralem Pjanic was the unlucky man at the Olimpico on Sunday night. The last time the Giallorossi scored two own goals in a season was in 2007-08 – Matteo Ferrari against Cagliari and Max Tonetto against Siena. The highest number of Roma own goals in a single Serie A campaign is four, a feat they have achieved on five occasions: 1953-54, 1957-58, 1978-79, 1990-91 and 1996-97.
Sunday's 2-1 success over Sampdoria was the Giallorossi's third consecutive league win, a run of results they hadn't managed since October when they won five on the bounce in Serie A. However, those five victories were interspersed by a defeat and a draw in the Champions League – both away – to BATE and Bayer Leverkusen respectively. Roma haven't recorded three straight wins in all competitive matches since September 2014 when they put together a six-game winning streak – their first five Serie A fixtures plus a home win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
Roma have now beaten Sampdoria seven times in February, with six Blucerchiati wins and three draws in the same month. The Giallorossi's last victory against Sampdoria was in fact in February 2014, a 3-0 triumph in Serie A.
The Giallorossi have taken the lead in seven of the eight matches they have played since going out of the Coppa Italia to Spezia on penalties after a 0-0 draw in December. The only time they didn't go in front in that period was against Juventus in Turin.
Roma recorded their eighth 2-1 win over Sampdoria on Sunday night. Of the 96 games between these two sides that didn't end in a draw, 51 have finished with a one-goal winning margin.
Luciano Spalletti has faced Sampdoria nine times as Roma boss with six wins (four at home) and three draws (one at the Olimpico), 20 goals scored and six conceded.
Sampdoria remain one of the 11 teams that have never beaten a Roma side coached by Luciano Spalletti. The other ten are Frosinone, Parma, Treviso, Lecce, Messina, Bologna, Napoli, Chievo, Livorno and Hellas Verona.
Diego Perotti was the 18th player to get his name on the score sheet for Roma in all competitions this season. The Giallorossi have fielded two goalkeepers and 30 outfield players in 31 competitive matches so far this term.
Twenty-one is both the total number of goals scored by Alessandro Florenzi in a Roma shirt and the number of goals scored by the Giallorossi in the first half of matches this season. Against Sampdoria, Roma continued their knack of finding the net in the first and last quarter of an hour of the opening period – they now have nine goals in the first 15 minutes, four between the 16th and 30th minutes (two against Carpi, one against Palermo and one against Frosinone at the Olimpico) and eight between the 31st and 45th minutes.
Roma have emerged victorious from 53 of their 132 encounters with Sampdoria in all competitions, winning 43 of 66 games played in the capital. The Giallorossi's league record against the Blucerchiati is 46 wins from 116 total meetings, with 37 from 58 at home.
