Pjanic: Good defensive performance

Miralem Pjanic revealed he was pleased with Roma's solidity in the 0-0 away draw with Napoli but stressed that the whole team is itching to start scoring again

"We played well defensively but we have to do more in attack," said the Bosnian midfielder. "We had a few chances, maybe we should have done better in front of goal and made better use of the ball as well.

"We improved in the second half but in general this was a good defensive performance. Everyone got stuck in and we know where we need to improve to find the net again - which we all want to happen."

The Giallorossi No.15 was also satisfied Roma came away with a point from a stadium where they've been defeated on the last four occasions.

"We came here to face a side that is full of confidence. They've been picking up good results recently and you saw that on the pitch. That's why tonight was a good point. We know that many other sides have lost here and a draw away in Naples is never a bad thing."

Is the team low on confidence at the moment or is fatigue the bigger issue?
"We're coming towards the end of the first half of the season and there's a bit of tiredness in the team – we haven't had a chance to take breath. Maybe we're lacking a bit of self-belief as well and you could see that against Napoli. We want to get out of this period and we need a big performance to get that confidence back. This is what we have to do in the cup game coming up and then against Genoa before the Christmas break. After that we'll be able to recharge our batteries before the second half of the season."

Are you worried that Roma are seven points off Inter in top spot?
"Inter have had that bit of luck on occasion that you need to win games. They haven't necessarily played well but they've picked up points and they deserve to be in first place. There's a lot still to play this season and we need to shorten the gap as much as possible in preparation for the final sprint in the title-race. We need to be as close to the top of the league as we can."
