The captain of my youth. The way he used to argue with referees holding his hands behind his back... A legend

I remember that penalty at home against Inter. He placed the ball on the spot. Silence around the stadium. The run-up. The thud when he hit the ball. The net bulging. The stadium erupting with joy! Roma 1 Inter 0. Super Ago! An immense captain.

After a night queueing up I managed to get my hands on a ticket for that cursed match. Agostino was and always will be my captain. Such an upstanding individual, a consummate professional – there are few like him. He loved the shirt and wore it with honour and respect. So many times we chanted his name and so many times he repaid us with one of his rockets. Thanks Ago, a hero from a bygone era.

AGO
Ago Diba, heart and courage
Fury on the attack
The silence broken...
A gun shot!
It left us
with a lump in our throats.
Why?
You abandoned your people!
Ago is in our hearts
Ago is a thorn in our hearts!
I remember
that special smile on your face
that day when
with you
as leader and captain
and with pride
we won the Scudetto!- @MaxDnaRomanista
