In the first instalment in our review of the 2015-16 Serie A season, we look at which teams picked up the most red cards during the course of the campaign.
In total there were 128 red cards brandished by referees in the top-flight over the season - but how many of those were for Roma players, and which team had the worst disciplinary record of all?
Team | Red cards |
---|---|
Atalanta | 14 |
Inter | 12 |
Lazio | 10 |
Genoa | 9 |
Sampdoria | 7 |
Udinese | 7 |
Verona | 7 |
Bologna | 7 |
Carpi | 6 |
Palermo | 6 |
Empoli | 6 |
Juventus | 6 |
Sassuolo | 6 |
Frosinone | 5 |
Roma | 5 |
Chievo | 4 |
Torino | 3 |
Fiorentina | 3 |
Milan | 3 |
Napoli | 2 |
As the table shows, Roma had the fifth-fewest red cards in the league last season, picking up just five over the course of the 38 games.
The guilty parties on those occasions were Maicon, Radja Nainggolan, Miralem Pjanic, Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko.
Diego Perotti (twice) and Ervin Zukanovic also both saw red during the campaign, but those dismissals came before they moved to the Giallorossi in January.
