On 11 April 1999 – seventeen years ago to the day – Roma served up one of the most memorable derby wins of all time
The Giallorossi were without a win over Lazio since 1994, while the Biancocelesti were top of the league with a six-point advantage over their closest title challengers.
Nonetheless, Roma ripped up the form book to secure a 3-1 win over their sworn rivals courtesy of a Marco Delvecchio brace and a goal from Francesco Totti. It was a defeat that heralded the beginning of the end of Lazio’s title challenge, with AC Milan eventually pipping them to Serie A glory by a solitary point.
