Gallery: New Hall of Famer Giorgio Carpi in five photos

Following Giorgio Carpi's induction to the AS Roma Hall of Fame on Monday, we've picked out five historic photos from the club archives depicting his Roma career: from player to director and coach

This portrait of Giorgio Carpi captures perfectly the clean-cut, refined Roma style of the early years, Elegant, loquacious and utterly Romanista, Carpi wore the yellow and red of Roman before joining AS Roma when the new club was founded in the summer of 1927.

It was taken on the Rondinella pitch on Sunday 28 June 1953 after the last game of the season: Lazio B 0-3 Roma A. It reads: “To Giorgio Carpi with immense gratitude for the moral support he provided throughout this successful season.” Top row, from left to right: Carpi, club official Carpentieri, Bruno Cimpanelli, coach Renato Bodini, Sergio Agnese, Giuseppe Chierichetti, Alberto Stefanelli, Piero Morabito, Egidio Guarnacci (captain) and one of the two Donati brothers, who both worked for the club. Bottom row: Giampiero Betello, Mario Cuppitelli, Giuseppe Leonardi, Alberto Molinari and Luigi Pistolesi. The photo is also signed by youth-team director Virgilio Corradini.

Player, director and coach. Here's Giorgio Carpi in his second and last game in charge of the Giallorossi first team, the return leg of a Mitropa Cup first-round tie at the Stadio Olimpico on 3 July 1955 that finished Roma 4-5 Vojvodina. Next to Carpi is another new Hall of Fame member, club captain Arcadio Venturi, pictured handing the Capitoline Wolf to his Yugoslavian counterpart. Future Roma boss Vujadin Boskov started at centre forward for Vojvodina in this match.
