Looking at the previous 15 seasons, how have Roma coped on home turf against teams making their debuts in Serie A?
In 2001-02, it was the surprise package of Luigi Delneri's Chievo Verona making their bow in the Italian top flight. The Gialloblu have since become an almost permanent feature in Serie A, but back in the penultimate game of their debut campaign they were hammered 5-0 by Fabio Capello's title-chasing Roma at the Olimpico, a game which included a Vincenzo Montella hat-trick.
Two seasons later, debutants Siena were on the receiving end of an even worse thrashing when they lost 6-0 in Rome, the goals on this occasion coming from Antonio Cassano (3), Mancini, Marco Delvecchio and Francesco Totti.
Treviso fared much better on their first Serie A visit to play the Giallorossi at home in 2005-06, going down 1-0 to a Damiano Tommasi strike.
The next club to compete in the highest division for the first time in their history was Sassuolo in 2013-14. The Neroverdi nicked a point in the dying minutes of their debut league game away against Roma, after an Alessandro Longhi own goal had given the Giallorossi the lead.
Last season saw two debuting clubs in Serie A, Carpi and Frosinone. Both were soundly beaten by Roma at the Olimpico, 5-1 and 3-1 respectively.
Here's a clip of all 21 Giallorossi goals against the last six Serie A newcomers in the capital...
