Donadoni: We have to make Roma adapt to our way of playing

Bologna coach Roberto Donadoni wants his players to address their poor record against top Serie A sides when they host Roma on Sunday.

Donadoni's men are enjoying a season comfortably ensconced in mid-table, although their inability to produce their best against the league's top sides has been one of the reasons why they have not been able to push on further.

The coach wants his side to make strides in that department before the season ends - and sees the game against the Giallorossi as a great opportunity to do so.

"We've always underperformed against the top sides," Donadoni said in his pre-match press conference. "We still have a number of matches to play and we will face some top sides so we want to address this trend.

"We'll have to be at our best and want it more than them. We must show greater competitive spirit than them."

Donadoni expects Mattia Destro, a former Roma player, to be fit for the contest - despite suffering an injury earlier in the week.

"I have to pick the best possible team and also give an opportunity to the guys who have seen less playing time so I can assess them," he added. "We want to make life tough for our opponents.

"I've mainly focused on us this week because we all know what Roma are about. We don't want to adapt to them - I'd like the opposition to adapt to us. I'm sure that the Roma players won't go out there wondering whether [Luciano] Spalletti will be in charge next season or not. The players themselves can't even be sure of where they'll be playing football next season.

"Roma will also face us knowing they can still win the league title."
